Welcome to the APCO Oil Corporation History Website!

Abandoned APCO Gas Station by Clark Crenshaw - Oklahoma

The APCOOIL.ORG website is dedicated to the history of the APCO Oil Corporation which operated for a few decades in the middle of the Twentieth Century.

This website serves as an online museum to the APCO Oil company.

APCO Oil was an iconic part of many people’s lives, particularly in the Midwest and Southern regions of the United States. The branding is still recognizable by many people, and providing an accurate history of the arc of the company is important for documenting an important organization that was influential in the oil industry. APCO Oil became an archetypal fixture in the American landscape, particularly for people who lived in the 1940s through the 1970s.

APCO Oil branding, with its products and advertisements, now appeals to many for its nostalgic, Americana feel. The marketing of the company and its products are representative of the typical approaches to corporate marketing of the timeperiod, and of marketing common to oil and gasoline companies. The old APCO gas service stations are still present in many places throughout the U.S., although most are suffering from abandonment, or were subsumed into other gas stations and convenience stores which continue operating in the 21st century.

We hope this online museum is educational, useful, and entertaining to you.
