Artesian APCO Station 1979 – Owner and Daughters

This 1979 photo shows service station owner, Bill Rood, with his daughters, Tami and Tracy, on either side of him. Bill Rood’s “Artesian Service” station was located north of Ames, Iowa. Rood’s Artesian Service, later known as “Artesian Apco”, was apparently a popular stopping point for travelers along Highway 69 due to the nearby continuously flowing artesian water well that was located north of the station.
